Web Site Development

In this unit we learned how to create a website by using HTML codes and designing a header with Photoshop tools. It was difficult finding which html code we had to use to place certain sections in the right place. It was also a challenge on making the header for the website because there are specific ways to save and edit the header and if done the wrong way we would have to redo it again. I think this unit would help me in the future if i were to want to design a website I would already know the basics of how the html codes work and how to fix them properly to fit the site.

Web Site Design & First Impressions

The study on first impressions survey had been mainly targeted towards college students. Study shows that color scheme plays a role in capturing the reader's attention. The color helps draw whoever visiting the page to a certain spot as a show of interest. Survey also says that most college students are drawn to internet links and social media. I think the elements of social media from the article would impact the design for my own website because those who are around my age and have similar interests would be attracted to similar sites or information that I would be drawn. This would help build more attraction to those who are young adults who know more about the internet as to, a much older person with not so much of similar interests.

Following Instructions and Computers

Computers can be helpful with following instructions but not all instructions are clear and can be comprehended by a computer. Instructions must be direct for a computer to understand and follow by. A computer cannot think for itself and can only go by what information you give them. As for humans, they can think for themselves and make educated guesses by the information or instructions given. By making educated guesses it can help find out what the question is actually asking for you, not like a computer. Humans can also be misled by instructions also. By having the same instructions as one another but having different methods to interpret the information is common. Not all brains think alike but the out come would be around the same answer but in several different views.

How Data Tells A Story

Data can tell a story in three different ways. They can be interpreted through a list, word cloud and pictures. They are links of information that can pin point where something is at a point of time, which can be constantly updated. Data can be saved under your name, a pictures of yourself which both can be used in a passport to board a plane. A list of data can come from the stripe on the back of your metro card or credit cards. When you swipe it gives the computer can give off any data of your own personal information. A GPS can also give off list of data of location while traveling.
